Abstract

This week’s assignment is ‘Abstract’. The theme was to test student’s creativity with their use of Composition. Abstract means non-representational so a good abstract picture will be one that looks interesting but you won’t necessarily know what it is. This is where your use of composition and framing really needs to get creative!!

Lots of excellent entries were submitted and here are the winning two.

The peoples vote goes to Brenden Rooney. A well-deserved winner and it defiantly has and interesting look with that ‘what is it?’ feeling. I actually think it’s the inside of a boat. Great composition and response to the theme.

My vote goes to Barry Harman. Who’d of thought a bit a fungi could look so interesting! Love the composition of this shot, the main part of the image is set within one third of the frame and the rest is split by a series of horizontal bands with different textures. Really good ‘abstract’ shot!
