Frame within a Frame

This week’s assignment was Frame within a frame. This theme is in response to a lesson on composition. In my opinion, composition in photography is the single most important thing to get right. Good use of composition can turn a mediocre subject into an outstanding picture and is really easy to get right as no technical knowledge is needed.

One technique to use to spice up your image is to use a frame within a frame. The basic principle of this is to use something in your scene to frame the main subject, thus creating a frame within a frame. This week’s winners are:

The people vote goes to Anthea James. This is a very creative use of the theme shows the main subject looking through some leaves. Good response to the theme, well done!

My choice goes to Hayley Fisher for this clever use of a bench to frame the subject. There is also a really nice use of leading lines from the foreground into the person. Well done, a great use of composition.
