The Unknown

This week’s assignment is ‘The Unknown’. This theme is set to test students’ creativity with their use of Composition. The goal is to produce an image that is visually interesting but with a subject that no one will recognise, so the use of composition and framing needs to be creative here!

There were lots of great entries in the gallery - here are the winning two.

The peoples vote goes to Mick Hayes for this shot of grass growing through metal bars. I really like the close-up framing as it really stops you figuring out where the photo could have been taken, a great response to the theme of the Unknown, well done Mick.

My vote goes to Gareth Moss for this shot. I like the use of a shallow depth of field in the foreground, controlling where the viewer’s eye goes first. Again, a great response to the theme of unknown. Great job Gareth.
