Shot of the Year 2025 Winners
Every month we choose one photo from our students as our ‘Shot of the month’. This is based on the amount of engagement their photo gets, together with our judgment here at The School of Photography. Having put all of these shots together, we then have a final ‘Shot of the Year’ vote, and the results are in!
We added all the pictures to our Instagram feed and created a Facebook Gallery showcasing all the photos. We then asked you, our members, viewers and readers, to scroll through and show some love to the pictures you felt were most deserving of ‘Shot of the Year’.
We had some incredible submissions last year, but of course there can only be two winners

© Ian McMichael
We loved this picture by Ian, it really is spectacular! Ian Wrote, “This is probably the best I'll manage, but I've shot a lot of Astro this week. Lots. Not a massive amount of sleep, maybe 5 hours a night. Experimenting with reflections, textures and different compositions. Saturday night, I had an amazing night. Crystal clear skies, near perfect conditions. I did a self portrait. But Sunday I tried something more challenging and decided to take my dog along. Trying to get him to stand or sit still for the 2 second exposure was a task in itself. There was an enormous amount of haze and high altitude clouds to cope with. I did get a small window around midnight to get my sky images after spending around 90 minutes trying to get the shot of me and Rocky. A large container of chicken was consumed in the process. Thoroughly happy with this result and no doubt it'll be on a wall somewhere in the house.”
A huge congratulations to you, Ian! We will be in touch shortly to arrange your prizes.
Well done again to both our winners. The competition in 2025 brought some excellent pictures and well done to all that submitted their photos. We look forward to seeing what 2025 brings.
