What do you get extra with the X-T4

  • IBIS – In Body Images Stabilization – Matched with a compatible IS lens Fujifilm claim you can get up to 6.5 extra stops of light handheld! In photography terms, this means a hand held picture taken at 1/125th of a second can now be handheld at just over ½ a second. Of course this will only work if everything is still within your frame.

  • More battery power – approx. 25% more power.

  • Slightly larger and slightly heavy. This is due to the bigger battery and IBIS system.

  • X-T4 has a separate dials to switch from still shooting to filming. Very handy feature if you do a lot of filming and still photography.

  • CCD Monitor is higher resolution and flips round so you can see yourself. Good for vloging and selfies!

  • Shutter unit is more robust. The X-T3 is rated at around 200,000 actuations whereas the X-T4 is rated at 300,000.

  • Auto focus tracking is better on the X-T4. However its already great on the X-T3!

  • Some more colour modes to choose from – If you do your colour grading in post like we do, then this won’t matter to you, but they are fun to use all the same.

  • Video recording – Both have the same frame rate & bit rate on 4K – 60fps at 200Mbps or 30fps at 400Mbps. Extremely high spec! However the X-T4 films slow mo in HD at 240fps (10x Slow mo) whereas the X-T3 films slow mo in HD at 120fps (5x Slow mo).

  • The X-T4 – Records video on both cards simultaneously.

  • The X-T4 has a feature called F-log view. This allows you to record video in log – but view on screen normal contrast and colour. F-log is available on both cameras.

Conclusion

Fujifilm X-T3 is a Bargain!
At £1250 the Fujifilm X-T3 is an absolute Bargain! You get a high end, professional camera with a high-end lens for £1250. At this moment in time, I don’t think any other camera brand is offering those features for that money.

So why buy the X-T4?
Filming. If you’re going to take filming seriously it is worth the extra money. But remember the X-T3 is still a great filing camera with high specs.

For us here at TSOP it will be worth paying the extra and getting the X-T4 due to all the filming we do. Filming handheld with IBIS is really handy. But if it’s mainly still photography that you want to do then you save yourself some money.
